Software Engineer Home Energy Management Systems

We are expanding our platform's capabilities on intelligent energy management features, allowing our users to optimize the use of high-consumption appliances, such as EV charging stations, heat pumps, and white goods, in synergy with their photovoltaic (PV) systems and home battery storage. To bring this vision to life, we are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our team.

As a Software Engineer at our company, you’ll play a crucial role in developing, enhancing, and maintaining the software that drives our home energy management solutions. Your work will directly impact how users manage their energy consumption, enabling them to achieve financial savings and tailor their energy use to their unique needs.

What are your key responsibilities?

  • Design and develop; you’ll create, maintain, and enhance software features for our home energy management systems, built on an embedded Linux platform.
  • Algorithm Development; build smart algorithms to optimize energy consumption across various appliances, considering factors like cost, user preferences, and real-time energy production.
  • Collaborative Work; partner with both software and hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of all components of our systems.
  • Testing & Debugging: conduct thorough testing, simulations, and debugging, to ensure the highest reliability and performance of our software.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field (or equivalent experience) and proven experience in software development for embedded systems, with a focus on embedded Linux.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, or Python.
  • Familiarity with Victron Energy or other energy management systems, smart grids, or IoT devices, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of power generation, energy storage, and consumption optimization.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as MQTT, Modbus, or similar.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills to explain complex technical ideas clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
